Partner network of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve State Secretary Elisabeth Aßmann visits the Vju Hotel Rügen
Rügen, 07.10.2022 - On Thursday, October 6, 2022, State Secretary Elisabeth Aßmann from the Ministry for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas and the Environment visited the Vju Hotel Rügen. In office since May 2022, the politician got to know the UNESCO Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve, of which the arcona Hotels & Resorts hotel is a member of the partner network.
"The UNESCO Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve offers visitors a unique cultural landscape and provides information about the extraordinary natural wealth of the protected area. The observation tower of the Vju Hotel Rügen is the perfect place to introduce people to the diversity of the local coastline," says State Secretary Elisabeth Aßmann. The Vju Hotel Rügen's commitment to regionality and sustainability was also confirmed by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Till Backhaus, when he presented the hotel in Göhren with its re-certification certificate in July.
The topic of sustainability runs like a red thread through the entire concept of the Vju Hotel Rügen: Binding guidelines for saving water and energy as well as for avoiding and separating waste, the economical use of cleaning agents that meet the latest ecological standards, the avoidance of small portion packaging for cosmetic products and at breakfast, and the option for guests to decide whether their room should be cleaned or resources should be conserved - these are just some of the measures the hotel implements to preserve nature.
In addition, the Vju Hotel Rügen is involved in numerous environmental protection projects such as NABU's KOR campaign and is a partner of various organizations. Since 2020, the hotel has also been a participant in the Mönchgut beekeeping Baumgarten pilot project "Help the bees - rent colonies with beekeepers". A beehive was rented from the apiary to promote plant diversity and find new ways of keeping bees in a stable environment.
